What is TAN?

Tax Deduction Account Number or Tax Collection Account Number (TAN) is a 10 digit alpha-numeric number issued by the Income-tax Department. TAN is to be obtained by all persons who are responsible for deducting tax at source (TDS) or who are required to collect tax at source (TCS).

How can I file TDS Return through TAN API?

TAN API allows you to file TDS return through the FVU file for Form 24Q, Form 26Q, and Form 27Q for a given financial year and a quarter through TAN Registration. TAN API includes two utilities that allow you to:

  1. E-file TDS Return: E-file TDS Return by uploading FVU file through Income Tax Department and TAN Registration
  2. E-verify TDS Return: E-verify TDS Return by referencing the E-filing job and OTP for verification by Income Tax Portal

E-file TDS Return - Endpoints

HTTP Method





Accepts an FVU File (which is obtained from the Utility by providing the text file and CSI file of the TDS return). Queues a JOB and returns a job id.

E-verify TDS Return - Endpoints

HTTP Method





Allows you to e-verify your TDS Return by providing OTP for verification on the Income Tax portal. Accepts the OTP generated on the registered mobile number for the aadhar linked with the TAN.
